Geometric topology is an area in mathematics not concerned about shape/deformation or size, but how surfaces (manifolds) are connected together (maps/mappings). In geometric topology, two objects are identical as long as you can make any network of paths on one object’s surface and sort-of wrap it around the other object’s surface without having to break anything. E.g. “Take a left at the 3-way intersection, then a right at the 7-way intersection, then a left at the 2-way fork” will mean the same thing and get you to the same end point for either object. This ignores how long a path is or how it curves, because that’s irrelevant.

For example, a human is topologically identical to a 7-holed doughnut I think it was, thanks to various passages like our digestive tract from the mouth to… er. You get the idea.
