Ok after not riding since a teen in the last 2 years I have gotten back into it. I now own 2 horses. My newest horse got a professional saddle fitting a few weeks ago and I was told he needs a “regular tree”. Ok great. Now when I am looking at used saddles almost no one else uses that term.
I’ve heard gullet sizes, quarter horse bar, half quarter horse bar etc. so now I’m confused and every time I think I have it figured out I’m confused some more.
So explain it like I’m 5 what all this means please so I can shop for a second saddle with a bit more confidence.

Essentially, a saddle tree consists of four parts: the pommel, the cantle, and two tree “bars”. The saddle tree bars are long, flat pieces of wood, fiberglass, metal, or a flexible composite material. These lie along each side of the horse’s spine and help to evenly distribute the rider’s weight along his topline. trees come in narrow, medium, or wide. But it is also important that the angle of the tree be adjusted to match the angle of the horse’s shoulder to avoid rubbing and pressure points.
