How an electron “interferes with itself” ?

I’m having difficulty picturing how this happens. Can someone please explain?

Remember that science is all about creating models that are useful – that we can use to make useful predictions…

One thing that is hard about physics is letting go of our expectations that we have from dealing with things in the macro world.

One of our models about electrons is that they behave like particles. One of them is that they behave like waves. Another is the one we use to figure out electron shells and the chemistry of atoms.

All of then are useful in some situations.
