How are drugs sold in jail/prison for profit???

Not something I like to admit but I’ve been to jail for 4 weeks of my life. You see a ton of drugs in there, and you hear about it too.

What I don’t get is how are the suppliers on the outside getting paid? From what I saw all drugs are sold in exchange for commissary goods, sexual favors, etc.

How does the outside supplier get paid when the drugs are being exchanged for ramen soups and blowjobs????

There’s always a middleman, my dad is a prison guard. And they will trade anything for anything.

Some folks have a source of money, either family, or a pension, even savings. then you have gang members.

a couple decades ago when the Son of Sam was sentenced, it was learned that he applied for social security benefits because he was mentally ill. This revealed that a lot of psychos were living large on that SSI money, so they passed a law saying you can’t get social security while in custody.

Someone on the inside wants the sugar buns cigarettes and blowjobs. That person has access to money outside of the prison, through personal funds, family or gang affiliations. Those funds are what pay the drug dealer on the outside and the mule that smuggles the drugs into the prison.

My assumption would be someone on the outside is paying for whoever is on the inside. Call “home” ask them to buy and smuggle whatever you want/need. Once it’s inside, then the local “currency” takes over
