How are materials from used batteries recovered during the recycling process?

It’s essentially just like mining, only the concentration of the element you want is much, much higher than it’s occurrence in some mined mineral. Most extraction processes involve grinding up the material and then chemically separating it. Different batteries have different chemistry and different elements inside them, so the process varies from type to type.
