How are metal sheets made?

My girlfriend and I were talking and we both realized we have no clue how metal sheets are made.

Yknow how you used a rolling pin to flatten dough out?

It’s essentially a bunch of big giant metal rolling pin that gradually squishes the hot/soft metal into smaller and smaller sheets

I’ve got a video. Skip to about two minutes in. [Video.](https://youtu.be/soCT9u5y6jY) As for supplementary descriptions, the bar of metal is run between large steel rollers. The other commenter’s reference to rolling dough is fairly accurate. This is done several times, and some metals may also require heating to prevent them from breaking in the process, or just to improve their metallurgical properties. This is the difference between hot-rolled and cold-rolled steel, if you’ve ever heard those terms. The end result is sheets.
