How are older toilets able to flush down human solid waste but not toilet paper?

Was curious so I looked it up.

It’s because some systems, especially older systems, have lower flushing pressure. And some toilet paper does not dissolve / degrade / break down as quickly as others. So when you have this combination, you get a solid piece of paper that ends up getting trapped in the plumbing because the water isn’t strong enough to push it out. And that can cause more toilet paper to get stuck, which causes more paper to get stuck, which causes a blockage in the plumbing.

And human solids *do* get stuck in pipes, that’s why you have to unclog it sometimes.
