How are Scandinavian countries so prosperous despite not engaging in external colonialism ?

Colonialism is one way to get prosperous but it really isn’t the primary way- rich countries tend to be the ones that can afford to be colonial.
The main way is by having sufficient natural resources, an educated population, and relative peace. The Scandanavian countries produce massive amounts of oil per capita, also enjoy intelligent populations and have been peaceful in recent history.
