Is there a rule to follow when you witness someone sleepwalk? Do you wake them up? Do you let them be? No touching/leading them back to the bed? …

Not only can their eyes be open, but they process their environment. I was at my sister’s house sleeping and got up, unlocked her front door and walked out. That was the first time I had been to her house and I didn’t know the layout well. Luckily she was up late working, so she saw me and guided me back to bed. I don’t remember any of it.

So, people have explained that sleepwalking is where your brain fails to paralyse your body while asleep.

But the opposite also happens: [your brain fails to unparalyse your body when you wake up](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sleep_paralysis). Apparently, it can be really fucking scary.

Usually when you sleep, your connection to your senses and motor controls are “unplugged”. Sometimes this doesn’t work!

Also the opposite can happen – being awake but having your motor control “unplugged” and you literally cannot move – terrifying condition some people occasionally experience.

This can actually get so bad that you kill someone and be acquited due to this.

Some guy drove over to someone else, while asleep, and killed them. Acquittal because of an extreme case of sleepwalking.
