How can an exhumed body still reveal information years after burial? What information can or can we not learn as time goes on? Is there a time limit to it in forensics?

There is definitely a time limit to forensics. Every passing second, evidence degrades. Exhumation is only done in rare circumstances to check specific things. DNA of the body can be tested until long after death, and any damage to the skeleton itself will be preserved for decades because it can’t heal and the bones degrade very slowly.

Other than that, exhumation isn’t really useful. Bodies are usually cleaned and dressed before a burial, so most evidence is washed away.
