This has been all over the news for some days now.

Normally, this pipeline supplies western customers with gas flowing west from Russia.

How can this be reversed???

By turning off the pumps on one side and on on the other. A pipeline doesn’t have an inherent direction; the gas just flows whatever way the pumps push it in.

The “usual” direction is just set by the fact that Russia usually sells gas to everyone in Europe, but right now, Poland buys its gas from Germany (because the German stored gas is cheaper than the Russian fresh one). Therefore, they just use the pipeline in the other direction to deliver that gas.
