How can Netflix (and other services) able to distinguish the intro from the episode in TV Shows?

I’m just really curious on how those services are able to know how long the intro is and if you want to skip it. Maybe it’s simpler than I think. I thought it was worth a try!

They have someone watch the show before they post it… to make sure they have the right trigger warnings, and to know where to put the intro cut and the end jump to the next episode. Did you really think they post series blindly without having someone on staff review the content?

Since most shows have theme music playing during the intro, the service only need to identify when this sound is played and give you the option to skip to where the theme song is no longer heard.

Well computer are good at identifing something similar in every episode for each season.
Using the music and or video you can easely look up and match.

But as other said it is then checked by humans.
