How can supplement companies make a protein powder thats amino spiked?

Just wondering how companies are able to produce amino spiked protein powders and sell it without a 3rd party lab testing. Yet there are FDA Lot Numbers on the packaging.

Does testing whether the contents of the product are accurate not fall under the scope of the FDA?

You would think that they would be regulated, but in 1994 Congress passed a law that limits how FDA can regulate them.

As long as your product isn’t actively harmful and you don’t claim that it treats a specific disease, you’re fine. You don’t even have to register your product.

Yes, it’s really really stupid.
