How can we hold in our urine when we are asleep but it’s harder when we are awake

Because you are virtually paralysed when you’re asleep so you don’t feel it – hence the lack of urgency.

Your body is good at holding it in (unless you’ve drunk your body weight in beer).

Because your body makes less pee at night than when you are awake. The body produces various hormones (chemical messages to your body) which are associated with your sleep rythms.. one of which practically stops urne production.

When you sleep, your kidneys slow down. Your morning urgency to pee is either urine that was created slowly and your bladder wasn’t under pressure or it was created quiet recently. Either way the reason you are awake could be exactly that.
