There is a lot information to gain from many burn sites. your example is actually pretty good.
If the property completely burned to ashes, it’s very likely a propellant was used.
So they check the ashes and area around for traces of that. And/or check all places nearby selling fire propellants and see if someone bought huge quantities. And so on.
