How Come An Espresso Shot Has Less Caffeine Than Your Regular Cup Of (Drip) Joe?

Espresso around 70. A cup of drip around 100. You need like a fistful of ground to make a single shot of E but barely a spoonful for a cup of brew. Ya’ll?

It’s like the difference between a shot and a tallboy beer. Sure the shot is a lot stronger, but also way smaller

Because a shot is smaller than a cup.

It is the difference between concentration and volume.

You just figured out concentration ratios! Congrats!

Espresso has less mg of caffeine total, but has more per unit of volume. Brew 125ml of espresso and compare it to 125ml of drip and you’ll see the difference!
