I believe the seeds you are referring to are usually plastic and have vitamins in them to scrub off dead skin/help make hands softer!

It is not seeds but rather minerals. It is basically sand as in sandpaper. This will help scrub your hands when you rub them together so that you can get off even more of the dirt then with soap alone.

It’s usually just something rough to help you scrub and “exfoliate.” Used to be plastic until they were banned in the US due to pollution. https://www.cnn.com/2013/01/07/health/microplastics-soap-unilever/index.html

Housewares and beauty companies are always trying to come up with new ways to generate interest or charge more for basic stuff, at the end of the day what matters most is the ingredients of the soap itself, how you scrub, and how long you scrub. Exfoliants might help you scrub a bit better but the little additions in most soaps aren’t going to make that big of a difference, most people just need to use a washcloth or scrub brush. (Industrial soaps like Go-Jo have high concentrations of pumice and stronger ingredients which can scrub dried paint off your hands! That’s more exfoliating than most people want.)
