how come if your left nose is plugged and you turn to lay on your right side your left nose unplugs? (and vice versa)

This is something that use to plague me when I was a kid. Whatever side I laid on would get stopped up. I’d turn over to the other side and the stopped up side would clear but then the other side would get stopped up. So I would have to time it so that the stopped up side would clear and then roll to laying on my back before the other side got stopped up.
