It doesn’t seem like a huge difference to me but even a 1 degree increase of body temp can make you so tired and have fever. Why is that?

Your body is like a car engine running at a certain temperature and would get fried if it was too hot that’s because most reactions and enzymes in our body are temperature dependent you aren’t feeling “like you are dying” you are actually dying.
