how come other mammals start growing teeth way before human infants ?

I read that kittens start growing teeth around 2-4 weeks of age, for puppies it’s 6 weeks, but humans start getting them in around 6 months, why?

It takes humans about 18 years to reach “adulthood” and even longer for our brains to fully develop. We are more complex beings and take more time to develop. A kitten is full grown in just a year or two by comparison.

How long it takes us to reach maturity is a factor of the number of neurons in our brains. Mammals with high neuron densities take longer to develop.

Time to survive. Humans can afford to develop really slowly because we are an apex predator that doesn’t need to roam to survive. Instead human babies are developing their brain for the massive amount of complex tasks humans perform.

Humans have to give birth a lot earlier than most mammals because we have giant heads to accommodate our giant brains. Any longer in the womb and the baby just wouldn’t fit out anymore.
