I’m asking because I mainly play Destiny, WoW and ESO. With the exception of ESO, most “MMO’s” for console don’t seem as wide and “exciting” as WoW.

WoW only loads what you need. It’s constantly loading in new textures as you move around.
To add: WoW has been expanding their map since 2004. Of course it’s huge

Because consoles are literally built to hold back progress, a good example being what happens when CD red had to make cyberpunk work for last and even current gen consoles instead of just pc. They’re already a few true “gens” behind and physically can’t handle very much.

I don’t think MMO’s are the best example, because the reason MMO’s were more popular on PC is because they’re traditionally better played with a mouse and keyboard. When you have all those different abilities and menus to deal with, it can be hard to map everything to the controller.

Consoles *can* be as expansive as you mentioned however with ESO being a good example, and FF XIV being another good example of a pretty expansive world. Whether on PC or Console the game isn’t loading the entire map when you play.

It is apparent you have not experienced Zelda Breath of the Wild yet. I have it on a Nitendo Switch and it impressive how giant and open it is.
