How come that pi (π) extends its decimal numbers infinitely?

There are more irrational numbers than there are rational ones. sheer statistical probability says that any random number that happens to be mathematically significant like pi or e is more likely to be irrational. And when I say “more likely” I mean the chances of it being rational is about one in infinity.
