What do you mean? Everything that is metallic has to come out of your pockets

There’s a lot of stuff inside large tablets and laptops that makes it hard for the x-ray machine to see what’s behind them.

So you have to put them in a tray separately so they can see what’s in your bag and get a clearer picture of what’s inside your laptop in case you’re trying to hide drugs or a knife or something inside it.

Phones are smaller so they don’t block as much of the view of your bag.

Some new x-ray machines are able to look though them better so you don’t need to remove laptops etc from your bag any more.

The main reason you have to remove your laptop from your bag is because its battery and other mechanical components are too dense for X-rays to penetrate effectively – especially if the scanning system is old. The same goes for power cords and other devices such as tablets and cameras.
