How come when we first open our eyes from a nap there is sometimes a blueish tint to everything?

Your eyes work by firing tiny chemical loads that get triggered by being hit with their correct coloured light.

If you close your eyes the red ones are still being fired when light shines through your eyelids. The blue ones build up without being triggered. So when your eyes open the blue ones are more sensitive for a moment

It’s the same as these negative images that make a greyscale pic seem coloured
