How come when you are in a dark room or something and then turn the light on your eyes hurt?

When in the dark, you’re pupils dialate so that it can take in as much light as it can, allowing you to see better. When you suddenly turn on the lights, it seem much brighter because you’re eyes are taking in much more light.
