Ive been havng Otter Pops mpre often now its starting to become summer, and ive always wondered why the liquid in the pop would always kind of “freeze” when you flick it. (Well, its more like a slush-consistency). Its really interesting, and i want to know.

It’s called supercooling. Basically the liquid inside is below the freezing point, but due to special circumstances, it hasn’t frozen yet. A sharp impact can cause the crystals to start forming and freeze it up.
I had it happen at a wedding I was helping with in Brazil. Had about 40 2-liter bottles chilling in a freezer. Every one of them started freezing when the cap came off.
