Apart from tsunamis and massive fires pretty simple : a lot of dust clouding the sky for years meaning a lot less plants , meaning a lot less herbivores could survive which in turn meant a lot less carnivores survived. Dust and asteroid impact also changed the climate favoring small animals.

The meteor flung hundreds of billions of tons of super heated material into the upper atmosphere. As it rained down it heated up the atmosphere cooking everything on land that couldn’t take shelter. The tons of material blocked out enough sunlight so most plants died. Since dinosaurs were huge and required lots of food they starved while small mammals were able to seek shelter and could survive by small bits of food.

The atmosphere got so hot that every forest on the planet burned at the same time. There was nothing eat, no shelter, and the climate was destroyed.
