There are many genetic issues that promote abnormal growth.
But, there’s also a much more benign Darwinian explanation too… if a woman ends up taller than average, her instincts are to find and mate with an even taller male. So, in that way, “tall genes” do tend to propagate through normal behavior.
There are also lots of sociological aspects as well. In his time (and youth) Henry VIII was very tall and seen as a sex symbol of the age. So, when society says tall is sexy, that makes tall people more desirable and results in more tall genes in the gene pool.
So really, it’s a combination of a ton of things.
