A lot of these answers are over-complicating a very simple physical property. Most planes have a centre of mass that is forward of the wings, meaning that when the plane touches down and the wheels create friction, the plane will naturally lead with the heaviest part, which is the nose. It straightens itself out. Some planes have the centre of mass behind the wings, and those get real fun to land on windy days.
