How do alligators & crocs, too I suppose, swim underwater in sandy, marshy water and not react to sand getting in their eyes?

Guessing this is a biology question. Essentially that question. Lots of animals swim in what is “dirty” water and don’t seem to react to getting sand or debris in their eyes.

Humans? A speck of anything and we’re searching feverishly to get it out.

So what’s the difference? I know some animals have a second eyelid but not all.

ETA: I should have asked more clearly about other animals as well that don’t have multiple eyelids. Do they not have nerve endings in their eyes the way humans do?

They have three eyelids. Their third eyelids are a clear membrane which work like a set of goggles. They are transparent and allow crocs and gators to see underwater without getting crap in their eyes.
