Wild animals are much more active and use their nails/hooves extensively every day to obtain food, chase prey, run from predators, etc. It’s the pampered domestic animals that need assistance keeping their nails and hooves trimmed because their lifestyles are much more sedate and inactive. Food is provided to them in easy to access bowls or troughs, predators are kept away, and they don’t have to travel extensively over rough terrain.
