How do ants collect or store water?

Ants collect water from drinking dew and other water sources that aren’t deep enough to drown them. (This is probably not the best answer.)

Ants have two stomachs, one in front (the “crop” or “social stomach”) and one in back (the regular stomach). Material in the crop does not get digested or absorbed, so it can stay there a long time. Ants can move material from their crop to their mouth and then pass that to another ants. Ants routinely do this for their queen and larvae (babies).

Their crop will probably not contain pure water, but might contain sugar water, food that has a lot of water, etc.
