Bones are not static, they dissolve and reform all the time but very slowly. So applying constant pressure to a tooth for a long time will shift its position in the jawbone, part of the bone will dissolve to make new space for the root of the tooth and the freed space will be filled by newly grown bone.

When there’s no pressure the teeth will stay as they are.
