I can’t speak for cost efficiency, but Nespresso has a ton of first-party varieties and, at least in Europe, many coffee shops make pods compatible with Nespresso machines using higher quality beans.
One thing to keep in mind is that Nespresso machines tend to make very small servings and therefore less caffeine. A standard double shot, which is what you would get at almost any coffee shop, has about 20ish grams of ground coffee while a Nespresso pod has 8-13 grams.
