How do companies send large amounts to each other?

For example, it’s common knowledge that Google sends Apple $5billion every year to be the default search engine. Do they just send a check? Send stocks?

Cash transfers usually. Literally arranging for Google’s account to be debited for $X and Apples account to be credited for $X. Happens every day. Of course, some companies still use checks, but that’s rarer and rarer.

Back in the early 2000’s I worked for a company in Arizona called Insight. They are a business to business technology company, still around today. Part of my job was to print the checks that were sent to IBM, Cisco, and other big tech companies. These paper checks were often in the 10’s of millions of dollar range. A bygone era for sure.
