how do cool bags/boxes work when they are made with different materials?

Would it not be better to use the same materials for both? Why do the bags have a silver lining when the boxes don’t?

If the box is made of corrugated cardboard rather than just plain paperboard, it already has entrapped air between the outside and inside walls that can act as an insulator kinda. The only bags I’ve seen don’t have this, so they add in the shiny layer.
