How do cool mist humidifiers work?

210 viewsOtherTechnology

I recently picked up a humidifier that instead of pushing out hot vapor it’s actually cold/room temp. Soon as I turn it on it instantly starts to work and I’m so curious how it’s able to do that. I’m very used to humidifiers that have a heating element and take time to get going.

Cool mist humidifiers work by vibrating the water really quickly so it turns into mist rather than boiling it so it turns into steam. There are also wicking or evaporative humidifiers which are just fans that blow air over a wet “wick” which is basically a big coffee filter folded up a bunch of times and that makes the water evaporate faster, thus humidifying the air.
