How do cruise ships survive heavy storms?

Or in general, how do they go through unexpected earthquakes or anything of the sort, since we rarely hear about cruise ships crashing?

They displace enough water to remain afloat (Archimedes’ Principle), have a low center of gravity so that they float upright, and are built strong enough to withstand the forces that the sea and wind can impose on the ship. As already pointed out, tsunamis are not a threat to ships in deep water.
