I sometimes use emojis to initiate and terminate a chat conversation. In addition, I use them to express my emotions through chat. When I see a specific emoji, I process information differently.

Emojis have been supporting people who don’t talk much or don’t know what to talk (like me) a lot. I usually use them when I want to show my identity, my vibe, my sense of humor, etc. My sentences would be so much non sense or agressive without emojis.

Because, as you said, emoji represent the emotion of the sender/writer.

“STFU 🤬” would be processed differently than “STFU 🤣”

The process to produce a response to an angry chat would be different than the process to produce a response to a fun chat.

If I wanna convey to my wife I want to have sexual intercourse later, but my child is in the room I can just text her 🍆? And based of her reaction I know my chances later.
