How do game clipping softwares, for example medal.tv work? I get that it creates clips from a hotkey by recording the whole gaming session, but what does it do with the unclipped footage, and does it take up pc space since its recording hours of gaming?

It doesn’t record the whole gaming session, it saves last 3-5 minutes of it in a temporary file that gets either saved as a video if you press the clip button, or deleted after some time passes or you exit the game.
