it has nothing to do with the breaker itself: the type of glass used in public transports is tempered glass which is made to shatter like that to avoid making jagged edges and sharp fragments that could be launched at reasonable speeds..

think of modern vehicle design as such: the vehicle is very gladly utterly destroy itself if that means that in the event of accident the occupants survive with as little injury as possible.

It’s because the glass used in buses and cars is a special type of glass called tempered glass. Normal glass would break into really sharp pieces which could hurt someone. So in the event of an accident, the glass would shatter into many pieces and won’t cause too much damage.
