How do mouthguards work when you’re asleep? If you grind your teeth in your sleep, wouldn’t you still grind them now just with plastic or something between them?

The plastic is a lot softer than your teeth. you will eventually grind the mouthguard to pieces, then you can replace it.
New mouthguard is cheaper than dental work.
