– How do nerves get compressed?

For example, I’m experiencing something called foot drop in which a common cause is a compression of the peroneal nerve. How and why does a nerve compress?

Nerves can be compressed in a bunch of ways. Probably the most common is inflammation. Something proximal to the nerve gets infected or injured and swells up, compressing the nerve. Any of the -itis’s can do it, ex tendinitis. But tumors, bad posture, overly tight clothing, or repetitive motions can also cause nerve compression.
