How do newborns’ muscles grow?

When you’re born, your muscles can’t be that large, can they? As you age, you use the muscle you have and the fibres become stronger after they break. But do babies have that as well? I am beyond confused.

The two phenomenon you are talking about are different. One is natural growth due to aging, which is regulated by very different processes than the growth of muscles by damage/conditioning. But, they aren’t entirely separate, because as the child grows and gains weight their muscles are coping with an increasing workload, which makes them stronger and more developed on its own!
