How do our eyes see?

For clarification: I believe I understand the basics of visual processing. My question is, once all the processing is done in the brain, how is the data seemingly “projected” back to our eyes? Does the brain house some kind of virtualized map of the eyes to which it displays processed visual data?

It’s not projected back into your eyes. Your brain is processing the visual information and it looks like the visual is “in your eyes” because that’s the perspective you are receiving the view from. The actual interpretation is all in your mind though, the images aren’t sent back into your eyes.
