Depending on the prison location, if they are in a city something things are thrown over the walls as people walk past. More modern technology like drones have also been used to deliver. Finally nature’s pocket is also a firm favorite which has been utilized by prisoners for millennia.
It’s quite simple really. The guards get paid to sneak them in and they do.
Obviously not all guards will do this but they often do and there are usually a group of them covering for each other.
For example guards are often if not always searched before and after work.
I don’t think many people realize just how much traffic and merchandise goes in and out of a prison. These places are like small cities.
