The human body is primarily if not entirely controlled by hormones. With pregnancy the main hormone involved is HCG and this hormone like others can be affected by external factors, the most common reason for this hormone to be released and result in pseudocyesis is either a uterine tumour or cancer. Once HCG levels are increased a woman’s body would simply follow suit and enter the early stages of pregnancy such as nausea vomiting etc.

Edit:
Emotions also impact hormone levels and its belived that some women can have a strong enough desire to become pregnant or can convince themselves they are to the point where it results in pseudocyesis.
