How do popularity ratings work on streaming services?

More detailed than then the obvious “the more people watch, the higher the popularity.” For example, if I watch the same show every day from the same account and/or IP address, does that boost a show’s rating the same as if two different accounts watch that same show? Any other factors going on behind the scenes?

What do you mean by ratings? Like a show’s 1-10 score or like what shows up in your feed as recommended?

Nether Netflix nor Amazon make this public. They claim its about how many people watch it, but its not possible to validate, it could be whatever netflix wants to push and be popular.
