How do sites like archive.ph and printfriendly.com work?

50 viewsOtherTechnology

These sites are able to bypass the paywall and give basic version of a page/article so that it can still be read. How do they bypass the paywall? Why can’t sites stop that from happening?

It doesn’t always work this way, but often paywalled sites want to show the full content to search engines to draw people in. This means you can sometimes bypass a paywall by accessing the site in a way that makes you appear to the site like a search engine rather than a human.
