The small Japanese trucks like JDM and Honda’s have the engines located in a compartment at the rear of the cab and behind the driver.
Essentially the driver is sitting on it.
It sitting in between the frame rails of the chassis with the box and the cab sitting on top of it, which is a configuration that resembles the flat nose European style trucks (think the original Optimus Prime)
